Graduation Requirements
La Progresiva is committed to preparing students academically, spiritually, and personally for the next step in their journey.
Preparing for Graduation
Students must meet all credit and graduation requirements to receive a diploma from La Progresiva Presbyterian School. A unit of credit is earned through the successful completion of approved coursework and is based on a minimum of 140 instructional hours and a 4.0 grading scale.
All prospective graduates must:
Complete College Entrance Testing
Take the SAT and/or ACT before receiving a diploma.
Apply to College
Apply to a college before the end of the first semester of the senior year.
Maintain Academic
Maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale to qualify for graduation.
Complete Community Service
Complete a total of 75 hours of community service.
Students who have not successfully completed all subjects required for graduation may not be permitted to participate in commencement. If night school or summer school is required during the senior year, the student will receive the diploma after the required course has been successfully completed.
It is the responsibility of the parent and student to monitor the percentage of completion in each course throughout the school year.
Diploma Requirements
La Progresiva offers both Standard and Honors Diplomas. Both programs are designed to prepare students for college, with required credits beginning in 9th grade. A unit of credit is based on 140 instructional hours.

Course Requirements
Mathematics
Mathematics credits must include Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, or other courses above the level of Algebra I.
Science
Science credits must come from approved courses including Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or other approved science courses.
Social Science
Social Science credits must come from approved courses including Geography, World History, U.S. History, U.S. Government (0.5), Economics (0.5), or other approved social studies courses.
Foriegn Language
Students pursuing either the Standard or Honors Diploma must complete 2 credits in the same foreign language.
Virtual School
Virtual School coursework is a State of Florida requirement. Students pursuing the Honors Diploma must complete an additional virtual course and earn a grade of B or higher.

Staying on Track
Graduation is the culmination of years of academic work, personal growth, and preparation. Students and parents are encouraged to monitor academic progress throughout high school and work closely with school administration to ensure all graduation requirements are completed on time.
