Honors Diploma
Our Honors Diploma program challenges students to pursue academic excellence, develop strong study habits, and graduate prepared for college and beyond.
Pursue Excellence. Earn Distinction.
Students may follow the regular program of study leading to a Standard Diploma or pursue an advanced program of study to meet the requirements for an Honors Diploma.
Students pursuing the Honors Diploma must meet the following requirements:
1. Complete four honors courses each year
Students must receive credit for four honors courses during each year of high school (9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades). Honors courses transferred from another school may qualify toward the Honors Diploma.
2. Maintain a 3.2 GPA in honors courses
Students must maintain a grade point average of at least 3.2 across their honors coursework.
3. Maintain a 3.0 overall GPA
Students must maintain an overall grade point average of at least 3.0.
About the Honors Program
The following diplomas are offered at LPS. Starting with the graduating class of 2019, all students are required to enroll in an approved online course through FLVS.
The Honors Program is designed for students seeking additional academic challenge through more rigorous coursework and assignments.
Students must maintain A’s and B’s in all classes to qualify for and continue in the program.
Students who wish to earn an additional 1.0 credit may elect to take an approved class as an honors course. Honors courses may be offered in core subjects and require prior approval from the Administration before the course begins.

Criteria for Awarding Honors Credit

Academic Average
The cumulative average for the honors course must be 3.0 GPA or above to qualify for honors credit.

Coursework Completion
All coursework must be completed as defined by the course syllabus. No exceptions will be made.

Completion of Requirements
All honors requirements must be satisfied before honors credit is awarded. The course will be designated as an honors course on the student’s transcript at the end of the year.

Additional Assignments
Honors students must complete six additional assignments to satisfy the honors-credit requirements.

Mathematics Honors Courses
Students registered for any mathematics honors course must earn 80% or better on each assessment to receive honors credit.

Christian Education Honors
Students registered in Honors Christian Education must participate in the LCS Festival.
